Our Story
Tour de Terrace is a Seafair-sanctioned, summer festival that attracts tens of thousands of visitors to Mountlake Terrace each July. The first Tour de Terrace, as we know it today, was celebrated in 1994 when two residents, Jerry and Judi Smith, decided to establish an event to commemorate the city’s 40th birthday and generate community spirit.
Introducing
The Smiths
The Smiths and a small group of dedicated volunteers first started the Tour de Terrace Parade in 1993 which serves as a warm up for many groups participating in Seafair’s Torchlight Parade. The Tour de Terrace Parade always occurs on Friday night, the day before the Torchlight Parade.

Jerry Smith Town Center Plaza
Tour de Terrace is pleased to share that the The Mountlake Terrace City Council unanimously agreed to name the new Civic Campus Plaza in Jerry Smith’s honor.
The plaza will be used for civic events such as farmers’ markets, special events, and performances. It will provide tables and chairs, water features, sculptures by two Northwest artists, and a stage adjacent to the Council Chambers. It will also be equipped with a flagpole pavilion and in-ground lighting.
